The North Texas Hutchinson Bell is excited to announce the opening of Registration for Florida College Texas Summer Camps on January 21st.

We are eager to launch our new summer camp location at Arrowhead Camp, Cleburne TX, south of Ft. Worth in July.

Though our location will be new, the essence of what makes Texas Camp special will be the same: Christ centered, relationship building and a whole lotta fun outdoors. 

Arrowhead Camp will provide an enhanced camp experience with its well-maintained facilities, its air-conditioned lodging, cafeteria and indoor assembly areas, along with its swimming pool, activity center and giant trees with ample shade.

For less than $12 per day more than Camp Hensel’s fee last year, our new camp is a winner. Arrowhead costs more for us to be there but is a much better value for our campers (while we have not yet received the cost of Camp for 2024, it will increase.) We simply want as many as possible to experience just how amazing Florida College Texas Summer Camp will be at Arrowhead!

For 2023 Senior Camp will begin on Sunday, July 2nd and run through Saturday, July 8th and the $400 fee will be discounted this year to only $350.

Junior Camp will begin Sunday, July 9th and run through Friday, July 14th and being a day shorter, the $360 fee will be discounted this year to $310.

Registration will open on January 21st for Hutchinson Bell Members and will open for those not a member of Hutchinson Bell on January 28th.

For over four decades, Florida College Texas Camp has been blessed to operate in four locations.

We feel deep appreciation for the extraordinary experiences, the growth, the songs, the relationships, the love, the people, the starry skies and the sweaty, sun filled days–over all the years and at all locations, especially at Camp Hensel.

We are excited to announce, after much prayerful consideration, FC Texas Camp will have a new home!

Being transparent, the Board of the North Texas Chapter of the Hutchinson Bell has been considering options for an enhanced camp location for over five years. 

We realize that with dozens of FC Camps across the nation every year, each one in its own unique location, what makes FC Texas Camp is not the location. It’s the people with purpose and heart. We desire to only increase our ability to help wonderful young people grow through an extraordinary experience of camp week each summer.

Our search was driven by a single-minded intention of how to best serve our mission for FC Texas Camp. We searched for:

• An exceptional, outdoor setting. 
• Clean and well-maintained facilities
• Facilities for sports activities: indoors and outdoors
• Adventure Activities available
• Safe, comfortable sleeping accommodations. Clean comfortable cabins/dorms.
• Indoor meeting area large enough for the entire camp to assemble
• Camp facilities able to accommodate our growth in numbers of campers
• Responsive, on-site management of the camp facilities and grounds.
  

In short, we looked for a Camp location that would help us best represent our mission and purpose, while retaining the elements of what makes Florida College Texas Camp so extraordinary!

Here’s what we found…

Arrowhead Camp, Cleburne, TX

• Fifteen minutes east of Glen Rose, nestled on the hilly, green banks of the Brazos River, Camp Arrowhead provides:
  
• Hiking Trails through the woods. Fields for sports activities. Giant oak trees for shade for campers and counsellors to enjoy. It’s green!
  
• Outdoor activities, including Archery, Rifle-shooting and Axe Throwing.
  
• Sports facilities including basketball courts, volleyball and fields for football and Gaga Ball.
  
• An Activity Center with ping pong foosball and board games.
  
• Clean and comfortable, air-conditioned sleeping accommodations for campers, counsellors, and staff.
  
• A large swimming pool with lifeguards.
  
• Two indoor meeting facilities: one that can hold up to 450 people, one that can seat 100.
  
• On site husband and wife camp-site managers, committed to making sure the camp facilities are in order and well-maintained before and during camp.
  
• Room to grow as a camp: by 50 to 100, additional campers.
  

While our camps will move to a new home, we remain committed to what has made FC Texas Camp strong: our spiritual focus, which reflects FC’s spiritual focus as well. We believe Camp Arrowhead reflects even more positively on FC and aligns even more closely with our mission, allowing campers to better experience the exceptional encouragement, safety and care of FC’s unique spiritual environment. 

We are confident that, together with our many, exceptional volunteers that make camp so positively impactful, Arrowhead Camp will allow us to create an even more extraordinary week for our campers!

FC Texas Summer Camp will be in our new home at Arrowhead Camp in the summer of 2023!

Senior Camp begins Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. and runs through 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8.

Junior Camp begins July 9th, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. and runs through 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 14.

We are deeply grateful to Josh Johnson, our Senior Camp Director and Thomas & Ashlyn Holder, our Junior Camp Directors. They are exceptional leaders. We are grateful for all co-directors, counsellors and staff who lead our campers with the heart of Christ.

While the decision to find a new home was not easy, it was not made lightly. Camp Hensel holds a special place in our hearts. We honor and hold dear what remains steadfast: the relationships, the experiences and the personal growth for all. We are confident that these will abound in our new home.

With the move to Arrowhead, some changes are painful for us. Because of the new facilities’ services that will be provided, a few of the FC Texas Camp volunteer staff positions will be filled by Arrowhead staff. We appreciate the hearts and service of all our volunteer staff, and we love them dearly!

While we know that there are discomforts with change, we are confident that Arrowhead Camp will be an outstanding home for Florida College Texas Camp, we pray for many years ahead.

Thank you for sharing our mission and our path forward. We pray that Arrowhead Camp will provide a wonderful canvas for us together to create an inspiring masterpiece of growth for all who share our noble mission!
